Friday, March 24th, 2006I'm fairly certain this is the same red-shouldered hawk that used to come to our yard last fall. This is the best picture I've managed to get of it in flight.

I have a redtail hawk that patrols my back yard and when the sun hits the tail you KNOW that it is a redtail. So I am guessing this is the red shouldred hawk. A hybrid could very well be.

Yup, it's a red shouldered. this pic is pretty conclusive. the best indication is the blackish band at the end of the tail - red-tailed hawks don't have that mark.
