This loggerhead shrike was a real surprise. I was just driving down the road in the refuge and spotted it on a reed. I took a few quick shots and it took off. When I swung by again, 40 minutes later, it was back in the same spot again. Funny thing: I've never managed to photograph a Northern Shrike, which is not a rare bird in Vermont, but in New Mexico I managed to find a loggerhead. Twice. Go figure.
