Long exposure night sky shot, showing stars rotating around the north pole.

I had intended to do light drawings, but once I got up to the orchard, which is on top of a hill, there was wind blowing and it was just really cold up there. 19F and windchill of 'yikes.'

I almost turned around and went home and then I said, 'okay, you've got to do something, after coming all this way.'

So I took one camera out, and set it up to do the shot I just posted. I took the other camera, pointed it in the other direction, and set it to just do continuous 15-second exposures to try an animation later.

Then I got in my car and started listening to podcasts. I was aiming for anything over half an hour, but then when it got to be a little past half an hour, I just had a few quick podcasts left to listen to so I told myself I'd just deal with the cold until I ran out of podcasts. Then when the last podcast was over, I got out of the car, turned off one camera, then turned off the other and then put them away as quickly as I could without developing frostbite and turned the car on and started driving, hoping for heat a.s.a.p.

So, that was my long way of saying that I was just going for a long exposure of some sort. I had no idea I'd come up with a photo this gorgeous.
