This is another attempt at fireflies that didn't do what I expected but yielded some cool results.If you look carefully at this photo, you can spot all sorts of streaks through it. Those are all fireflies.This ruby-throated hummingbird popped up while I was chatting with our neighbor so I grabbed a few quick shots.Backyard song sparrow.Another attempt to get firefly photos yielded some interesting results, but still didn't yield much of the fireflies themselves. That said, I do love this shot.

So far, this is proving to be a fairly difficult process. I can see hints of fireflies in the photo, but they're overshadowed by other light. I'll be experimenting a lot more with this.

I tried a bit of an experiment tonight, which was a partial success. The idea was to capture the light of fireflies in motion. I did manage to do this, but it's barely visible (you can see a few green specks here and there) at this size. This was useful, however: it taught me a lot about what to do and what not to do next time I try it. It also taught me that hazy nights do not make for great photography of objects that are not particularly bright, so next time it will be on a clearer night and in a location with a lot more fireflies.Tiger swallowtail butterfly.Backyard black-capped chickadeeAmerican Robin, with lunch.
